On February 5th the Chinese New Year transitioned from the Earth Dog to an Earth Pig year.

Chinese astrology is really the geomantic and mathematical study of ‘Qi’, which is really another name for ‘Time’ – how it flows and can be adapted to.

It also can be the study of ‘Ming’ – how fate and freedom are intertwined in an individual or a culture. The most known method of this relates to the stems and branches system – the use of the 5 elements and 12 animals – as seen on Chinese restaurant placemats – a natural progression of very different images of potential qi and, one might say, its digestibility.

Ken will present info about the year and host a discussion that is based on his training and study with Liu Ming (, who also founded the acupuncture college Ken graduated in 1986. This talk will be mostly entertaining and generally informative in nature – as well as discussing generally the deeper aspects of Chinese astrology and geomancy.

Ken is licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners as a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.) as well as holds a Diplomate by the National Certification Board (NCCAOM).
